April 13, 2024
The event brings the Maritime Singapore community together to foster industry cohesion while building the talent pool
Singapore, 13 April 2024 —The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) today held the SMF City Cycle 2024 to mark 20 years of building strong public-private partnerships. Themed “Bringing Maritime Singapore Together”, the SMF City Cycle event saw 68 maritime organisations across the industry and unions collectively contribute $542,000 towards nurturing the next generation of maritime talent (refer to Annex A for the full list of sponsors).
Mr. Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Transport & Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, graced the event as the Guest-of-Honor and officiated the flag off together with SMF Chairman Mr. Hor Weng Yew.
Nearly 150 participants attended the SMF City Cycle 2024, which took them across Singapore’s scenic eastern coastline beginning and ending at PAssion Wave @ Marina Bay for a route of approximately 20km. The participants comprised both industry veterans and 20 MaritimeONE scholars from various disciplines and institutes of higher learning who reflect the diverse and transforming nature of Maritime Singapore.
“The SMF City Cycle brings Maritime Singapore together for a cause that the community cares deeply about. On behalf of the SMF Board, I thank all the sponsors for generously contributing to the creation of more MaritimeONE scholarships and bursaries to expand the talent pool for the industry, which must continue and is essential to the transformation of the sector” said Mr. Hor Weng Yew, Chairman, Singapore Maritime Foundation.
