This year, the Singapore Maritime Dialogue 2019 was graced by Dr Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Health. Themed “Maritime Singapore in the Age of Digitalisation”, the sharing sessions and panel discussion allowed participants to understand the importance of digitalisation in the maritime industry and beyond.
The first speaker, Mr John Hahn, CEO and Co-Founder of Ocean Freight Exchange, shared about digitalisation trends in the maritime industry, and the role of technology as an enabler of growth. While the second speaker, Mr Richard Koh, Chief Technology Officer of Microsoft Singapore, spoke of digitalisation trends beyond the maritime industry, including Microsoft’s efforts to drive digital transformation.
Participants had the opportunity to raise questions to the four panelists, who were Dr Lam Pin Min, Mr John Hahn, Mr Richard Koh and Ms Melissa Kee, Group Chief Human Resources Officer of Kuok Singapore Limited Group. Mr Michael Phoon, Executive Director of Singapore Shipping Association was the moderator for the discussion.
