The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) commissioned a maritime themed skit with the aim of educating primary and secondary school students on the multiple education and career opportunities that the maritime industry has to offer through drama play.

The skit will introduce the maritime industry to students and correct misconceptions students may have on the careers offered in the industry. Students will also learn how technology is transforming the industry, opening up career opportunities for data analysts, AI engineers and software developers. Through the skit, students will also be introduced to the education opportunities as well as scholarships available for those interested to pursue studies in a maritime related field.

The skit will be showcased at various secondary schools from 7th – 14th February 2020.

About the Organizer

The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) was established on 27 January 2004 to facilitate dialogue and cooperation among maritime stakeholders from the public and private sectors. As the bridge between the public and private sectors, SMF aims to provide the industry with a clear and representative voice, and spearhead projects to boost its development.

SMF also organizes and participates in a host of maritime events to strengthen the Maritime Singapore brand. To date, SMF has significantly benefitted from strong support from all sectors of the industry which has enabled the organization to reach out directly to the community for new areas of work to improve the current maritime ecosystem.
