The Maritime Knowledge Shipping Session (MKSS) is a seminar co-organised by the SMF and the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA). The 42nd session was on the theme “Container Ship Stack Collapses at Sea & Vessel Decarbonisation” and SMF Executive Director Tan Beng Tee closed the session.
Container ship stack collapses at sea have commercial risks involved and the costs from such incidents may accumulate after such events. The session explained how legal agreements can offer protection against liability following such events and explored how the stricter carbon emission standards imposed by the International Maritime Organisation for maritime decarbonisation have implications on marine insurance.
