The MSC Maritime Ladies Networking Day, organised by the Maritime Singapore Connect (MSC) Office, aimed to engage and connect female maritime professionals in the industry and provide a platform to discuss women’s experiences in the workplace, career pathways, areas for professional development, which provide guidance for experienced and fresh female talent in the industry. The event began with a keynote address by Mr Shanker Pillai, Head of Innovation & Change at Hafnia, who shared some of the innovative solutions his organisation has initiated to attract and retain female talent in the maritime industry. A panel discussion followed after, comprising Ms Atousa Atkins, Assistant Manager of Insurance & Claims from Eastern Pacific Shipping, Ms Brenda Teo, Engineer from the Tuas Port Reclamation Department at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Ms Murfiqah Syahirah Jalavddin, a MaritimeONE Scholar and Customer Service Executive from CMA CGM and Ms Magdalene Chew, Director of AsiaLegal LLC and President of the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association as the moderator. They discussed and shared their experiences in the workplace and the importance of gender diversity in the workforce.
