The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) and the Singapore Maritime Academy, Singapore Polytechnic (SMA-SP) are organising the Maritime Youth Day 2014, a one-day programme.
The event is organised to mark the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Day of the Seafarer which is celebrated world-wide on 25 June. This is a great opportunity for students to have a first-hand experience in understanding what the vibrant maritime and shipping industry is all about in a fun, dynamic and challenging manner. Through this event, we hope that students would gain a better appreciation of how the maritime industry underpins Singapore’s economy and be open to the diverse career and education opportunities that are available to them.
The programme would kick-off with insights into the maritime industry followed by tours of our world-class navigation and engine simulators. The students would then pit their skills intellectually in the Brain Olympiad. Thereafter, they would journey to our marina to test their physical skills both on land and in the water in the Forest Adventure and Sea Quest. This is the first time that students from the various levels would unite to leverage on one another’s strengths in a maritime challenge.
This year’s event is open to Scouts from Secondary School levels. Registration is on a first-come-first serve basis.
