A Maritime Night with NCC

Jointly organised by Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA) and Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF), in partnership with the National Cadet Corps (NCC), A Maritime Night with NCC seeks to heighten students’ awareness about their career and education opportunities in the Singapore maritime sector.

This inaugural event was well-attended by 160 NCC students, majority of them were sea cadets. During the event, they visited the SMA campus to get a true sense of the academy’s state-of-the-art facilities and gained a better understanding of the various kinds of maritime scholarships available and their career prospects in the maritime sector. Students were also treated various fun-filled water activities, such as jetty jumping, rope works, boat rides and sailing lessons at Poly Marina, SMA’s waterfront training facility.

The evening also saw the announcement of the first ever SMA-MaritimeONE Scholarship, an exclusive scholarship for NCC cadets to pursue diploma courses in SMA. SMF played host to the NCC students and treated them to a sumptuous buffet spread at the Suntec Convention Centre ballroom. The maritime partners and academians were highly entertained by the students’ performances as part of the evening’s programme.
